Dorchester, S.C : Statesville toddler dies after mom crashes car head-on in Dorchester, South Carolina on Monday, May 11, 2015

A Stateville toddler died Monday in Charleston of injuries suffered in a traffic accident, officials said.

Officials said Hunter Grant, 2, was riding with his mother Friday when she crashed. According to officials, Ginger Grant crossed the center line, hitting another car head-on.

The accident happened on Highway 78 in Dorchester, South Carolina.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday morning.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating. However, doctors at the Medical University of South Carolina said it appears Hunter was not secured properly in his child seat. The mother’s possibility of being under the influence has also not been ruled out.
