Man killed in combine crash identified in Meridian Mississippi
The Huntington County Coroner released the identity of the man who was killed in a crash involving a combine and a car Tuesday evening. According to the Huntington County Sheriff's Department, a combine driven by William Reed, 83, of Huntington, was driving northbound on Meridian Road crossing U.S. 24.The sheriff's department said Reed crossed the road and stopped at the median crossover and then continued across the road and into the path of an oncoming car.Officials said the combine struck the car at a right angle and drug it across the westbound lane.Investigators said the driver, Jeffery A. DeHaven, 57, of Warren, died of blunt force trauma to the chest. DeHaven was pronounced dead at the scene.Police said it took crews about an hour to extricate DeHaven from the vehicle.Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the crash, according to police.The crash remains under investigation.
