EDGERTON, WI : Two injured in 6-car crash on May, Monday 8th 2017
Authorities say two people were hospitalized after a six-car pileup that tied up traffic on Interstate 90/39 near Edgerton late Sunday morning.
Two people were injured and transported to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville, after a six-car chain reaction crash near the southbound lanes of I-90/39 near the HigEDGhway 59 exit at 11:45 a.m. Sunday.
One of the people injured was Beloit resident Andrew, J. Portwine, 28, the state patrol reported. Also injured in the crash was Virginia L. Seckler, 67, of Newnan, Georgia.
Both were transported to Mercy Hospital with “non life-threatening injuries,” according to the state patrol. Their status was not immediately available Sunday afternoon, and Mercy's Emergency Department Sunday evening declined to give a condition for either of the two injured.
The crash happened in an area where traffic was slowed, and vehicles involved were following too closely, according to the release. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor, according to reports.
The crash shut down lanes on the interstate for two hours.
