LACOMBE, LA : a teenager has been killed after a vehicle crash on May, Monday 1st 2017

Authorities say a teenager has been killed after a vehicle she was a passenger in failed to stop at an intersection.

Media outlets report the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office says in a news release that 17-year-old Victoria Schneider of Lacombe was fatally struck Monday. Schneider was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police say the Chevrolet pickup truck Schneider was riding in approached an intersection and the driver, 26-year-old Jermamie Young, failed to stop, causing the vehicle to collide with a Ford pickup truck. The Ford was driven by 55-year-old Steve Williams, who was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries.

Young told police he was couldn't stop because his brakes failed.

Authorities say no charges have been filed at this time.
