Ringwood, OK : One killed, 2 injured in fiery collision that closed U.S. 60 west of Ringwood Sunday afternoon, August 21, 2016
A Claremore man was killed and two others injured in a fiery crash that closed U.S. 60 for nearly four hours 5 miles west of Ringwood Sunday afternoon, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred around 4 p.m. when a westbound Buick Le Sabre, driven by Lois Pauline Sacket, 83, of Aline, went left of center on U.S. 60 and struck head-on a Honda Goldwing motorcycle driven by David Lyndale Dorsey, 62. Dorsey was pronounced dead on the scene.
Both vehicles departed the roadway, entering the south ditch and catching fire, according to the OHP report. Dorsey and his passenger, Christi Louise Dorsey, 59, also of Claremore, were ejected at the point of impact, coming to rest in the south ditch.
Christi Dorsey was transported by helicopter to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and admitted in critical condition with head, arm and internal and external trunk injuries. Sacket was admitted in stable condition for a leg injury at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol closed the highway at 4:06 p.m. and re-opened the road at 7:54 p.m. Traffic was re-routed along county roads, according to OHP.
Because of the condition of the Le Sabre that caught fire, OHP officials are not sure if the seatbelt was in use. The Dorseys were not wearing helmets. The roadway was dry and skies were clear at the time of the accident, according to the report. The accident still is under investigation.
