A bicyclist died early Thursday after he was struck by a car on County Road 393.
The Florida Highway Patrol identified the victim as 56-year-old Mark Dunafan of Crestview.
Dunafan was headed south on CR 393 near Harielson Road at 4:58 a.m., the FHP said in a press release. He was riding about 10 inches to the left of the solid white line when he was struck from behind by a southbound Chevrolet Cobalt driven by 19-year-old Kelvin Williamson of Crestview.
Dunafan was thrown backwards onto the hood and windshield of the vehicle before he fell onto the road and tumbled to the west shoulder just north of the Harielson Road intersection.
Williamson stopped on the west shoulder just south of Harielson.
Dunafan was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center and was pronounced dead.
The accident is under investigation.
