Sumter, SC : Two dead, one injured in single-car crash south of Liberty Street on Saturday morning, December 17, 2016

Sumter Police and South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating after a deadly single-car crash on Saturday morning.

It happened around 6:30 a.m. on Guignard Drive, just south of Liberty Street in Sumter.

Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the Sumter Police Department said officers and fire officials responded to the crash involving a 1995 Nissan Maxima. A male passenger was taken to Palmetto Health Tuomey Hospital but was later transported to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital for his injuries, which are believed to be non life-threatening.

McGirt said the driver and another passenger were killed in the crash. Their identities have not yet been released.

The cause and circumstances of the crash are unknown at this time.
