Two assault and burglary suspects prompted road closures Wednesday when they crashed their vehicle on State Road 50 in Pine Hills, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
Willie Samuel and Jalil Harvell are behind bars Wednesday night, accused of burglarizing a Belle Isle home then taking a wild ride down a highway and through the streets of Orange County. Both now face a slew of charges including armed burglary and attempted carjacking.
This incident started around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday. Police said the two men walked out of a home as the homeowner was walking in. They pointed a gun at him, then fled the scene, deputies said.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office helicopter captured the two speeding down S.R. 408 to Pine Hills Road.
When the men got to the Colonial Drive intersection, investigators said they smashed into another vehicle. The men jump from the vehicle and attempt to carjack a new vehicle.
"Passenger's out, orange shirt. Passenger's out. He's running northbound. Drivers out. They're both running northbound. They're trying to get into another car, guys. Silver car at Pine Hills and 50, carjacking in progress," the helicopter's pilot is heard telling deputies on the video of the incident.
