Canyonville, OR : One man dead after a crash disrupted Interstate 5 traffic north of Canyonville early Monday morning, April 25, 2016

The driver of a truck that rolled over on Interstate 5 just north of Canyonville is dead after an early morning crash.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., Oregon State Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a crash involving a commercial vehicle on the freeway near milepost 100, just north of Canyonville.

Police say a 2015 Freightliner towing a trailer was traveling southbound on Interstate 5 when it drove off the roadway and into the center median. The truck rolled over and came to rest on its roof, according to police. The cargo of laminated beams spilled onto the northbound lanes.

The driver of the truck, Allen Smith, 52, of Martinez, California, was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency personnel. A dog that was in the truck was taken to a local veterinarian for treatment.

Both northbound and southbound fast lanes were closed during the investigation and clean up.
