Tate Township, OH : Motorcycle passenger killed in crash on State Route 125 in Clermont County on Sunday, May 22, 2016
A passenger on a motorcycle was killed and the driver seriously injured in a crash Sunday in Clermont County, officials said.
The crash happened at about 6:20 p.m. on State Route 125 in Tate Township, according to a news release from Ohio State Highway Patrol. Sharon Johnson, 48, of New Richmond, was driving a 2010 Honda Goldwing west and tried to turn left on Sugartree Road when a pickup struck her motorcycle, the news release said.
Both Johnson and her passenger, 61-year-old Marlene Porterfield of New Richmond, were ejected from the motorcycle, the news release said. Porterfield was pronounced dead at the scene; Johnson was flown by helicopter to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with serious injuries.
Both were wearing helmets and protective gear, officials said.
The driver of the 1989 Chevrolet pickup, 33-year-old Tyler Elliott of Georgetown, was taken to Mercy Health – Clermont Hospital with minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
