Akron, OH : 17-year-old juvenile died after car crash on Interstate 76 early Sunday morning, March 27, 2016
A 17-year-old juvenile has died after her car was rear ended on Interstate 76 early Easter morning.
Police said that around 2:15 a.m. on March 27, the juvenile was sitting stationary on the eastbound shoulder near exit 24 when a 63-year-old Talmadge man driving a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox collided with her vehicle.
The girl, who was driving a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero, was transported to Akron City Hospital and later succumbed to her injuries. The other driver was transported with non life-threatening injuries.
Police said alcohol is a factor in the crash but charges have not been filed yet.
Authorities are still investigating the reason the victim was sitting stationary on the side of the highway.
The names of the victim and the other driver are not being released at this time.
