Elkon, KY : 78-year-old man dies in Allegre wreck on Wednesday, April 20, 2016

A man riding in a Nissan pickup truck has died from injuries sustained in a Wednesday wreck at Kentucky 507 and Kentucky 171 in Allegre.

According to Kentucky State Police, the pickup was headed north on Kentucky 171 when a 17-year-old driving a car missed a stop sign and the two collided at the intersection.

The driver of the pickup, Johnny Powell, was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center were he was treated and released. His passenger, Robert Powell, 78, Elkton, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Todd County Coroner.

Neither of the men in the pickup were wearing seat belts, according to KSP.

The 17-year-old and his passenger, Erica Burden, 18, Drakesboro, were transported via ambulance to Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital. They were reportedly wearing their seat belts.

Kentucky State Police are investigating.
