BURKE COUNTY, NC : Daycare workers honor three lives lost in Burke County crash on Wednesday, 8th August 2018
Burke County, North Carolina
The North Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate a crash that left three people dead, including two babies.
Troopers say 21-year-old Cody Myers, 4-month-old Piper Myers, and 17-month-old Adaline Hullette all died after a crash Wednesday along Henry River Road.
Friday, Tender Care Daycare Center held a balloon release for the three. Both Piper and Adaline attended the daycare up until Tuesday.
“The children were just here the day before, and when they went home that day, no one knew they were not coming back,” said Sue Craig, the Director of Tender Care. “When you go in there and see an empty crib or an empty cot, it is really hard. It has been an emotional experience for everybody.”
Craig has worked at the daycare for nearly two decades and remembers when Cody Myers was a child there.
“We just want everyone to realize how precious life is,” said Cochran.
The employees released balloons Friday morning with the other children to honor the three that were killed.
