Oklahoma City, OK : Woman jumps off bridge, Seven people injured after crash on I-35 in NE OKC Saturday afternoon, August 6, 2016

Seven people were taken to area hospitals after a chain-reaction accident on Interstate 35, officials said.

A woman was walking south in the northbound lanes of I-35 Saturday afternoon, prompting a vehicle to come to an immediate stop, authorities said. The car stopped too quickly for the vehicles behind it to stop in time, causing a chain-reaction crash on the highway near Northeast 23rd Street, officials said.

Four vehicles were involved in the crash and six people were injured. The woman jumped off a bridge shortly after the crash and also needed medical attention.

The people hurt in the crash are expected to be OK, officials said. The woman was taken to OU Medical Center and is expected to live.

I-35 was closed for a little more than an hour while crews cleared the scene. The highway has since reopened.
