Centerville,IN : 2 people injured in single-vehicle crash on June, Tuesday 20th 2017
Tuesday just before 9 p.m. Indiana State Police troopers responded to a call of a single vehicle roll over crash on I-70 just east of the Centerville Road exit. Trooper Josh Bayly arrived to find a Chevrolet S-10 pickup facing westbound on top of the barrier cable on the south side of the median closest to the east bound lanes.
The preliminary investigation showed that the pickup, driven by Sherissa Mattingly, 32, of Hagerstown, was west bound on I-70 when for an unknown reason she lost control and the truck rolled into the median at the 146 mile marker, just east of the Centerville Road exit. The truck rolled over and ended up coming to rest back on its wheels, on the barrier cables on the south side of the median close to the east bound lanes.
;
Further investigation revealed that an infant boy, approximately 9 months old and who was not properly restrained, was ejected from the vehicle into the east bound lanes of I-70 as the truck rolled. The infant’s mother, Sherissa Mattingly, was able to exit the truck and retrieve the child from the east bound lanes of I-70 before he was struck.
A medical helicopter was summoned to the scene and the child was airlifted to Dayton Children’s Hospital with what is believed to be serious injuries. Mattingly was transported by EMS to Reid Health in Richmond with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
