Phoenix, AZ : Two people seriously hurt in four-car crash in Phoenix on Thursday afternoon, September 22, 2016

Two adults suffered serious injuries following a four-car collision Thursday afternoon on Bell Road as it crosses State Route 51 in Phoenix, according to a fire official.

Four drivers were involved in the accident — two were taken to the hospital with serious injuries and two refused any medical treatment, Phoenix Fire Department Capt. Mark Vanacore said.

The accident took place on Bell Road on the overpass above the Piestewa Freeway, Vanacore said.

Phoenix Police Department advised drivers in a tweet to use an alternate route, as westbound Bell Road would be closed through the evening rush hour.
