Millsboro, DE : Pedestrian-involved crash on Route 24 west of Rosedale Road on Thursday, 13th February, 2020

A 47-year-old Millsboro woman was pronounced dead after she was struck by a car Feb. 13 on Route 24.

The crash occurred at 6:41 a.m. when a 2004 Hyundai Sonata was driving eastbound on Route 24 west of Rosedale Road. A 2011 Hyundai Tuscon was following behind the Sonata. Police say the 47-year-old Millsboro woman was attempting to cross Route 24 and walked into the path of the Sonata. The driver, a 59-year-old Millsboro woman, was not able to avoid the pedestrian and hit her. The pedestrian was also struck by the Tuscon, driven by a 40-year-old Seaford woman.

Police said the pedestrian was not carrying a light or wearing reflective clothing. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin, police said.

The drivers of the two vehicles were wearing seatbelts and were not injured.

Route 24 was closed for three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
