Officials today identified a pedestrian who was struck and killed Monday by a vehicle in Delta Township.

Joel Sanchez-Perez, 38, of Lansing, was in a southbound lane of South Waverly Road near the Interstate 496 ramp when he was hit by a pickup truck said Jerri Nesbitt, a spokeswoman for the Eaton County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's officials have not released additional details about the crash.

The driver, a 28-year-old Delta Township man, was not cited or arrested after the crash, she said.

Officials were called to the scene at 5:45 a.m. Monday. Sanchez-Perez was taken to a local hospital but later pronounced dead.
