Springdale, CT : Man injured in crash with Springdale utility pole early Sunday morning, August 28, 2016
A man sustained non-life threatening injuries early Sunday morning when his car struck and damaged a utility pole on Hope Street in Springdale, limiting traffic to one lane until early in the afternoon.
On Sunday morning and afternoon, crews from Eversource and Optimum were repairing damaged equipment on the pole.
The driver who was the sole occupant was taken to Stamford Hospital for evaluation and treatment, according to Stamford Police Sgt. Andrew Gallagher, head of Stamford’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction unit.
The accident occurred at 3:32 a.m. near 636 Hope Street, when the man reportedly fell asleep while driving home from work, Gallagher said.
By early afternoon the damaged Eversource equipment on the pole had been temporarily repaired but the pole would likely need to be fully replaced, Jack Arsego, a spokesman for Eversource said.
