New Haven, CT : Motorcyclist suffers injuries after colliding with fire engine in New Haven on Thursday, August 7, 2014
Police say a motorcyclist has been injured after he struck a fire engine headed to a medical emergency in New Haven.
Authorities say the fire engine was traveling southbound on James Street with its emergency lights and siren activated around 5:30 p.m. Thursday. As the engine was making a left turn, a motorcycle struck its front. Part of the motorcycle became wedged beneath the engine's cab.
Firefighters administered emergency care to 53-year-old Casper Amodio Jr. of West Haven until an ambulance arrived. He is in critical but stable condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Police say he was not wearing a helmet.
None of the four firefighters aboard the fire engine suffered injuries.
