Baton Rouge, LA : A 40-year-old Norwood man died in a single-vehicle crash on May, Sunday, 21st 2017

A 40-year-old Norwood man died in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana State Police said.

The crash happened shortly before 1 a.m. on La. 422 west of La. 67. State Police said William Loyd Jr. was traveling eastbound on La. 422 in a 1999 Chevrolet Camaro when his vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway. Loyd failed to regain control of the vehicle after overcorrecting to the left and ran off the left side of the roadway, striking a tree, State Police said.

Loyd, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by the East Feliciana Parish Coroner’s Office.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but impairment is not suspected to be a factor, State Police said.
