GONZALES, LA : Suspect surrenders in fatal motorcycle crash in Louisiana on Thursday, 20th December 2018
A woman wanted in a fatal motorcycle crash in Louisiana has surrendered to police.
WAFB-TV reported that 34-year-old Ashley Seibers turned herself in to police in Gonzales late morning.
Seibers is charged with vehicular homicide and driving while intoxicated. Police say her blood alcohol level was .09 percent, just over the legal limit of .08 percent.
Police say 18-year-old Caleb Loots was riding his motorcycle Dec. 9 near Interstate 10 when he was struck by a sports utility vehicle. Detective Steve Nethken says Loots was taken to a hospital where he died the next day.
Neither Seibers nor her attorney would talk to reporters at the police station. She faces between five years and 30 years in prison if she is convicted, plus a fine of up to $15,000.
