Independence, KS : Cherryvale man dies in a two-vehicle wreck east of Independence on Monday, April 18, 2016
A Cherryvale man died from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle accident Monday east of Independence, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred at 3:40 p.m. Monday at the junction of U.S. 160 and U.S. 169 east of Independence.
Earl E. Wooldridge, 62, of Cherryvale died at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, the KHP reported.
Wooldridge was eastbound on U.S. 160 in a 2008 Explorer Sport and failed to stop at the stop sign at U.S. 169. A 2012 Peterbilt semi-tractor trailer driven by Derik K. Blakely, 25, Platte City, Missouri, was southbound on the highway and struck Wooldridge's Sport.
Wooldridge wore a seat belt, as did Blakely. Blakely was not injured.
