CLARENDON COUNTY, SC : 71-year-old identified in fatal crash near the Williamsburg County line on US 527 on Monday, 6th August 2018

A 71-year-old man has been identified in a fatal two-car collision that happened in Clarendon County.

The accident happened near the Williamsburg County line on US 527 Monday.

William Franks of Hemingway, a passenger in one of the vehicles, died at the scene around 4:28 p.m., according to the Clarendon County Coroner Bucky Mock. Franks’ cause of death was blunt force trauma.

SCHP officials said a 2013 Nissan was traveling south along Highway 527. The vehicle crossed the center line and hit a 2018 Ford Explorer.

Franks was a passenger in the Nissan. Both drivers were taken to a hospital in Florence.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
