Newark, DE : Dump truck driver injured when vehicle overturns after being hit by van on Interstate 95 in Newark on Monday, Aug 17, 2015
Delaware State Police say a dump truck driver was hurt when his vehicle overturned after being hit by a van in Newark.
It happened about 6:35 a.m. Monday on Interstate 95. Troopers say 35-year-old Luis Aucay-Lluisupa of Salisbury, Maryland, was driving a van south when he tried to change lanes.
Police say Aucay-Lluisupa's van hit a dump truck hauling asphalt driven by 44-year-old David Welter of Delaware City, Delaware.
Officers say the impact forced the truck into a barrier, where it overturned.
Troopers say Welter was taken to a local hospital with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening. Aucay-Lluisupa, who was not hurt, was cited for failure to remain within a single lane and no valid operator's license.
