Jefferson, PA : 2 women killed in head-on crash in SW Pennsylvania on Monday, December 29, 2014
State police say two women are dead after one woman's car went out of control on a southwestern Pennsylvania highway and smashed head-on into the other's vehicle.
Troopers say 23-year-old Sherry Lynn Espinoza, of Waynesburg, was westbound on Route 21 in Jefferson Township, Greene County. She hit a guard rail on a curve then bounced off and traveled into the eastbound lane just before 11 p.m. Monday.
That's where Espinoza's car crashed head-on into one driver by 19-year-old Amanda Lynn Whipkey, also of Waynesburg.
Both women were killed at the scene.
A passenger in Whipkey's car, 24-year-old Richard Gump Jr., of Waynesburg, was taken to an unspecified hospital. Police say his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
