HOPKINTON, MA : Head-on crash injures 4 in Hopkinton on June, Wednesday 21th 2017

Two children were among four people injured in a head-on collision between a car and an SUV on Wood Street (Route 135) Wednesday evening, authorities said.

A Chevrolet Cruze sedan and a Chevy Traverse LTZ SUV collided near 147 Wood St. around 5:09 p.m., according to authorities

A woman driving the Cruze and two children inside and the SUV’s driver were taken by ambulance to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Fire Lt. Gary Daugherty Jr. said.

The Cruze erupted in flames after the crash, the lieutenant said. No one was burned by the fire.

“They were all out of the car when we got there,” said Daugherty. “The injuries were from the crash (rather than the fire).”

Good Samaritans, including Kelly Noska of Westboro and Michele Foote of Holden, pulled over and comforted the children while waiting for emergency personnel to arrive.

Ambulances from Westboro and Upton provided mutual aid to take the injured to the hospital. Daugherty said he did not know the seriousness of the injuries nor the ages of those involved.

Wood Street reopened after about an hour.

No information about charges or citations was available.
