Kennard, TX : 2 killed, including pregnant mother in a two-vehicle crash in Houston County on Friday afternoon, January 23, 2015

Two people were killed, including a woman and her unborn child, Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Houston County.

According to DPS, at 4:04 p.m., troopers were dispatched to a crash on state Highway 7, four miles west of Kennard.

Investigators determined a truck, driven by 16-year-old Dakota Youngblood of Lufkin, was headed west when he tried to pass another vehicle in a no passing zone. While attempting to pass, the truck hit a car driving west head-on.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, an expecting mother, was rushed to a Crockett hospital where she and her unborn child died. Their identities have not been released pending notification of kin.

Youngblood and his passenger, 20-year-old Derek Davidson, were also taken to hospital a Crockett hospital for treatment. Their condition is unknown.

The investigation is ongoing.
