Longview, WA : Long Beach man killed, Castle Rock woman seriously injured in car crash near Astoria Sunday, December 25, 2016
A Long Beach man was killed near Astoria in a Christmas Eve car crash that also injured a Kelso couple and sent a Castle Rock woman to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
According to a press release issued Sunday by the Oregon State Police, a 1996 Toyota 4Runner and a 2011 Honda Odyssey slid on ice around 10 a.m. Christmas Eve along Highway 30 near milepost 81 (15 miles east of Astoria). Both cars stopped on the highway, and there were no injuries at the time.
Two occupants from the cars were standing on the roadway when a third car, a 1998 Subaru Legacy lost control on the icy highway and struck the 4Runner.
Edward C. Carlson, 59, of Long Beach (an occupant of the 4Runner) was killed when the Subaru crashed into his car.
