Orange City,FL : Hot air balloon crashes into retention pond in Orange County on July, Monday 3rd 2017
A hot air balloon crashed into a retention pond Monday morning in Orange County, officials said.
The incident happened at about 8 a.m. near State Road 429 near Western Way, not far from Disney.
The Florida Highway Patrol said 16 people, including children, and a pilot were aboard the balloon.
The pilot told troopers that as he was coming in for a landing — the designated landing strip is adjacent to the retention pond — there was an issue with the wind.
Initial reports said one person was injured, but troopers said there were no serious injuries.
The balloon was from Orlando Balloon Rides. The company was making arrangements to remove the balloon from the retention pond.
