A Sunday vehicle crash in Jackson County killed a Panama City man, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

James William Martin, 67, died after his vehicle collided with a 2014 Ford Escape driven by Breanna Ayre Owens, 21, from Georgia, FHP reported. The crash occurred at 12:40 p.m. as Martin was traveling on the Interstate 10 exit ramp when his 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette came to the intersection of U.S. 231 and crossed into the northbound lanes in front of Owens’ vehicle, which struck Martin’s Oldsmobile.

Martin was a child and adolescent psychiatrist with Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital (ECBH).

“It is with an extremely heavy heart that we announce that our child and adolescent psychiatrist Dr. James Martin was killed in a car accident yesterday afternoon,” ECBH business development director Craig Segrest said in a news release.
