Granville, NY : Two people are dead after a head-on crash on Friday early morning August 15th 2014
Two people are dead after a crash in Granville, New York. Their names have not been released, but authorities say both cars had Vermont license plates.
Washington County Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy says crews were dispatched to the two-car crash on County Route 25 at about 5:15 a.m. Friday. They found one car engulfed in flames and both vehicles had heavy front end damage. Both drivers were alone in their cars and both were pronounced dead at the scene.
A witness told police she was headed east when one of the cars passed her in a no-passing zone going uphill seconds before the crash, and she saw the cars hit head-on in the westbound lane.
Authorities say one of the cars was a 2003 gray Dodge Intrepid, the other was a 1991 red Chevrolet Camaro. Both cars had Vermont tags.
The sheriff's office says the drivers' names will not be released until next of kin are notified.
