Newport News,VI : 47-year-old Gloucester man killed in crash in Gloucester County on January, Wednesday 3rd 2018

47-year-old Gloucester man was killed while traveling on his bike Wednesday evening, officials said in a press release.

The initial investigation revealed a truck hit the man while traveling westbound on Guinea Road in Gloucester County. The bicyclist was Michael Troy Smith, 47, of Aberdeen Road in Gloucester, died upon impact, according to Virginia State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya.

The driver of the Ford truck, Virgie Lee Carter of Contesse Drive in Gloucester, was not injured, Anaya said.

Officials said alcohol speed did not contribute to the accident. There are no charges at this time and the case will be brought before the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for review, Anaya wrote in the press release.
