Martinsville, IL : Casey man injured after ATV crash on a rural road near Martinsville early Sunday, October 30, 2016
A Casey man was airlifted to a hospital early Sunday after Illinois State Police said he crashed his all-terrain vehicle on a rural road near Martinsville while driving under the influence of alcohol.
Taylor Loftis, 21, was flown to Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind., where an update on his condition was not available Sunday night. The crash happened at 2:34 a.m. on Clark County Road 1400 North, four miles east of Martinsville. A passenger on the ATV, Shayley Shaffer, 18, of Greenup, was taken to a hospital.
Police say Loftis was eastbound when he lost control of the ATV, ejecting both himself and his passenger as the vehicle flipped over. He was cited for driving under the influence, improper operation of an ATV on a roadway and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
