WILSON COUNTY, TN : I-40 East in Wilson County closes after fatal crash on Thursday, November 24th, 2016

All lanes of Interstate 40 East in Wilson County are closed after a fatal crash Thanksgiving night.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the wreck was reported at 6:26 p.m. at mile marker 247, which is in the Lebanon area.

Officials with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office told News 2 that two cars collided head-on and caught fire, killing at least one person.

Authorities have shut down the eastbound lanes of the interstate and are diverting drivers to alternate routes. The roadway is not expected to clear until 11 p.m.
