KINGMAN, AZ : Bicyclist crashed into pickup truck on Stockton Hill on April, Wednesday 5th 2017

A 21-year-old Kingman man slammed into a pickup truck while riding a BMX-style bicycle southbound on the northbound sidewalk in the 3800 block of Stockton Hill Road Wednesday.

According to Deputy Chief Rusty Cooper, the cyclist had disconnected the brakes on the bike and collided with the truck, which was entering Stockton Hill Road, fracturing his leg.

He was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center in serious condition. The truck’s driver was not at fault. The cyclist will be charged with civil violations of operating a bicycle with no brake and riding on sidewalk.

Cooper said that by law, anyone operating a bicycle is required to follow all traffic laws including riding with the flow of traffic, having working brakes and not riding on sidewalks, all of which were allegedly related to this incident.
