A Lincoln County man died following a single-vehicle crash on Springfield Road at about 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.
James W. Jennings, 58, from Crab Orchard, lost control of the pickup truck he was driving and struck a fence post and guard rail on U.S. 150 near the Washington County line.
Jennings was ejected from the vehicle by the force of the impact. He was taken by Nelson County EMS to Flaget Memorial Hospital and later pronounced dead.
According to Lt. Jason Allison, Jennings was going west on U.S. 150 toward Bardstown, and it had been raining. It’s possible he may have hydroplaned, Allison said. Police do not believe he was wearing a seat belt.
Tuesday’s crash was the seventh fatal collision in Nelson County this year. Nine people have been killed on area roadways, including three on Springfield Road.
