Burton, SC : Three people injured after a crash on the Broad River Bridge in Burton on Monday night, October 3, 2016
An overnight crash on the Broad River Bridge in Burton sent three victims to the hospital late Monday night.
Officials say the accident happened on the bridge's northbound lanes heading towards Beaufort, just before midnight.
Burton Fire District firefighters responded to the scene after receiving a report of the two-vehicle accident involving a Charger and a Nissan. Upon arrival, crews found the Nissan overturned on its roof.
Three occupants were transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
The accident resulted in the closure of both northbound lanes of the bridge for two hours, while emergency crews assisted the injured and removed roadway hazards, which included large amounts of vehicle parts and fluids on the roadway.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol also responded.
