A 16-year-old Nebraska girl was hospitalized Sunday night after she lost control of her car and crashed on a snow-packed highway in northern Jackson County, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 6:30 p.m. about 15 miles north of Holton on US-75 Highway.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Rebecca J. Reed, of Bellevue, Neb., was driving a 2014 Chevrolet north on US-75 Highway when she lost control of her vehicle on the snow-packed roadway.

The vehicle then exited the roadway to the east, where it came to rest in the ditch.

Reed, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Holton Community Hospital for treatment of her injuries. Efforts to find out her condition weren’t successful on Monday morning.

There were no passengers in her vehicle, according to the patrol’s crash log.
