speeding Volkswagen crash killing one man in Bustleton section
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Investigators say a speeding Volkswagen went airborne after crashing into a dumpster, killing one man and injuring another in the Bustleton section of the city.
Police says a man in his 50’s was driving a black Volkswagen Tiguan down Krewstown Road on Sunday around 4 a.m.
According to investigators, the driver was speeding and struck a fire hydrant, causing the hydrant to go airborne and smash into a parked car at a nearby Wawa.
Police say the speeding vehicle continued and struck a large dumpster, causing both the dumpster and the vehicle to fly into the air and crash into the drive-thru lanes of a nearby bank. The vehicle landed sideways and was damaged beyond recognition.
Police say a male passenger inside the car was killed in the accident. The driver was injured and taken to Frankford-Torresdale Hospital. Officials have not yet revealed his condition.
