Pine Bluff, AR : PB man dies in crash on Sunday, 1st April 2018

A 22-year-old Pine Bluff man died Sunday after a two-vehicle accident at Harding Avenue and Olive Street, according to a news release from the Pine Bluff Police Department.

The news release said that Michael Hudson sustained severe injuries during the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene by Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley.

The accident happened at around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police said the incident was “originally put out as a homicide due to the injuries the male (Hudson) sustained. Later it was found that the injuries were a result of the collision and no foul play is suspected.”

Police said that witnesses at the scene reported that a Volvo driven by Hudson was traveling south on Olive when it struck a Buick in the driver’s side just as the Volvo passed the Buick going the same direction.

The Volvo then lost control and crossed into the northbound lanes, striking the curb and coming to rest just north of 17th Avenue and Olive Street, according to the news release.

The two occupants of the Buick were not injured. Hudson’s body will be sent to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy at the request of the family, police said.
