Jackson crash driver cited for cellphone use
Trevor C. Bullock, 22, of Millstone Township was issued a careless driving summons following a crash on Cassville Road early Saturday, police said.
At 3:23 a.m., police responded to Cassville Road near Oakwood Avenue for a reported crash, Lt. Steven Laskiewicz said. A driver who was at the Sunoco on Monmouth Road reported passing an overturned car that took down a tree.
Officers found a 2009 Honda Civic overturned with Bullock still inside, Laskiewicz said. Officer Mitch Kafton broke one of the cars windows so Bullock could get out.
Investigation revealed that Bullock was using a cellphone while driving and reportedly drifted into the oncoming lane, Laskiewicz said. As he attempted to get back into the the right driving lane, he lost control of the car and it began to spin as it crossed the center lane.
The car then ran off the road while going sideways, struck a tree, and flipped over several times before coming to a rest of the roof, Laskiewicz said.
Bullock was issued a summons for careless driving, using a cellphone while driving and failure to maintain lane.
Jackson First Aid also responded to the call and treated Bullock at the scene for minor injuries.
