Sacramento, CA : San Diego woman, 47, dies in crash on Interstate 805 on Thursday, January, 25th 2018

A woman died after her car went off north Interstate 805 and slammed into a tree in Clairemont on Thursday morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The woman was identified as Tisha Marie Angelique Vanpatten, 47, of San Diego, the Medical Examiner’s office said Friday.

Witnesses reported the crash near Balboa Avenue about 10:45 a.m. and several passing motorists stopped to try and help, according to the CHP.

When officers arrived, they found a 2000 Nissan Altima that had smashed into a tree, CHP Officer Jake Sanchez said. The left side of the car was seriously damaged and the woman driver was dead.

Officers aren’t sure what caused the driver to veer off the side of the road, Sanchez said. Investigators don’t suspect any other vehicles were involved.

The far right lane was blocked while officers cleared the wreckage and investigated the crash.
