BEACON FALLS, CT : Police charge driver in crash that ejected baby on Friday, November, 3rd 2017
Beacon Falls, Connecticut
Police have charged the driver of a minivan that crashed on Route 8 Friday, causing a baby to be ejected from the vehicle.
At about 3 p.m., Alex Malave, 42, was driving his Chevy Venture northbound in the left lane near Exit 24 when he lost control and crossed into the grass median, according to state police.
He then veered across the left lane and into the right lane, striking a Subaru Legacy from behind, police said.
The crash pushed the Subaru into a metal guardrail. Meanwhile, police say the Chevy spun toward the left shoulder, struck the guardrail supports and rolled onto the median.
Malave and his backseat passenger, the infant who was ejected, were transported to Waterbury Hospital with minor injuries, police said.
The driver of the Subaru, Raoul Muszynski of Ansonia, was also injured, police said.
Malave, of Danbury, was charged with reckless driving, failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, misuse of a plate, failure to have insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, failure to have a child in a restraint seat, risk of injury to a minor and reckless endangerment.
