Lindon, UT : 59-year-old Juan Lopez died after car hits other vehicles, barrier on I-15 near Lindon on Friday, December 18, 2015

Authorities have identified a man killed after his car struck two vehicles on Interstate 15 near Lindon.

The Utah Highway Patrol says 59-year-old Juan Lopez, of West Valley City, was pronounced dead at a hospital Friday.

According to UHP spokeswoman Mary Kaye Lucas, Lopez's Pontiac Aztek was traveling southbound at 11:30 a.m. when it veered to the right.

The car then struck a Ford F-150 pickup truck.

Construction staples from the truck then spilled out into the lanes.

The UHP says Lopez's car crossed the freeway and hit a center barrier.

The impact sent the Aztek into an airport shuttle van.

The van then hit another truck.

A passenger in the van was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Lucas says a medical condition may have been a factor.
