Pocatello, ID :Four people injured in crash that closed I15 in Pocatello on Thursday, July 2nd 2015
On July 2, 2015, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a multiple-vehicle crash in the northbound lanes of Interstate 15 at milepost 71, near the Pocatello Creek Road Exit in Pocatello, ID. Adam B. Schrand, 42, of Apache Junction, AZ, was driving southbound in a 2001 Ford pickup pulling a 2015 Genesis camper trailer / toy hauler, when a tire on the pickup blew. Schrand drove through the median and into the northbound lanes of travel. Luke Viernow, 37, of Pleasant View, UT, was driving northbound in a 2001 Freightliner tractor pulling a 2006 Commercial trailer. Schrand's and Viernow's vehicles collided just north of the Pocatello Creek Road on ramp, blocking all northbound lanes of travel. The subjects in all vehicles were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision. Schrand and three occupants in his vehicle, were transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.All northbound travel lanes were completely blocked for approximately two hours. All lanes of travel, including the northbound Interstate 15 on ramp from Exit 71, were opened approximately two and a half hours after the crash occurred.The investigation is continuing. ORIGINAL JOURNAL STORY.POCATELLO—Emergency units have responded to a collision between a tractor-trailer and recreational vehicle on Interstate 15.The wreck occurred around 12:30 p.m. today and state police said at least one person is injured.The crash occurred in the interstate's northbound lanes near the Pocatello Creek Road exit.The interstate's northbound lanes through Pocatello were shut down by state police because of the wreck. One lane was re-opened at about 2:30 p.m. and both lanes were reopened by 3 p.m.As of 2:12 p.m. many emergency units were still en route to the scene so detailed information on the crash was not yet available.
