Missoula-area motorcyclist killed in Highway 12 crash
A 41-year-old Missoula-area man died after hitting a car on U.S. Highway 12 west of Lolo Saturday afternoon, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.The motorcyclist was headed west toward Lolo Pass when he lost control on a bridge at mile marker eight, crossed the center line and sideswiped an eastbound Ford, according to a Highway Patrol dispatcher.The man, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle and landed on the road, the dispatcher said. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car was not injured.It was unclear if alcohol or speed were factors in the crash, the dispatcher said. The investigation continues. The man's name has not yet been released.
