CENTRALIA, WA : Driver fleeing police dies after crashing into home, severely injuring two others on Sunday, 23rd October 2016
Authorities say a 19-year-old driver was killed and his two passengers severely hurt after the young man lost control while speeding away from a police officer.
An officer in Centralia tried to pull over the car around 2:15 a.m. Sunday, Q13 reported. The driver refused to stop and the patrol officer was not able to keep up with the car. A short time later, the officer found that the car had crashed into a residence.
Police said the driver, Austin Courtright, 19 of Centralia, and one passenger were both ejected from the car.
The officer and firefighters attempted life-saving measures, but Courtright died at the scene.
Both female passengers were severely injured. One was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, and the other was flown to a trauma center in Portland. Their conditions were not immediately available.
There were people inside the home the car hit, but none of them were hurt,
