Suffolk, VA : Vehicle crashes into Suffolk pump station on Monday afternoon, May 16, 2016
A vehicle crashed into a Suffolk Public Utilities pump station Monday afternoon.
Dispatchers were notified of the crash around 12:43 p.m. when a Dodge Journey passenger vehicle struck pump station No. 55 located at the intersection of Hollywood Avenue and Myrick Avenue. An emergency by-pass pump was required at the site to maintain service to the residents served by the pump station. The full extent of the damage to the building and equipment is unknown.
The driver, Shenna Lavon Barnes of Suffolk, was the sole occupant of the vehicle and didn’t sustain any injuries. Barnes was issued a summons for failure to maintain proper control.
