Richmond, KY : EKU student killed in crash in Richmond on Friday, December 5, 2014
Authorities say a man killed in a traffic accident in Richmond, Kentucky, was a student at Eastern Kentucky University.
22-year-old David Nelson Lee was leaving the parking lot of a convenience store Friday afternoon when his car was struck by a van. Authorities say Lee died at the scene.
Clerks at the store say drivers often speed on the road Lee was trying to turn onto, even when driving conditions are poor.
"It seems like the worse the weather gets, the less sense people have on the road," said clerk Michael Paolini. "I've got my 2-month-old son on the road, driving 45 miles an hour in the rain, and people are just flying past me at like, 70."
Authorities say Lee's parents are in Irvine, Texas, but he has grandparents in Irvine and Richmond.
Investigators have not said if anyone will be charged.
